Cows
Today we have 20 dairy cows.
The ladies consist of different breeds and crosses.
We have the traditional Norwegian NRF cows, Simmental / Fleckvieh cows that give better meat compared to the NRF, they are also calmer in character and therefore more pleasant to work with. Their white heads are typical. We also have holstein, brown swiss crosses, a number of jersey cows that are known for excellent milk for cheese and ice cream. And an old breed of cow the fjordfe, this is a small breed of cows known for good protein in the milk.
At the place where we live, winter is the first to arrive and the last to leave, so our cows are indoors a little longer than usual. But once it is summer they are out on the mountain 24/7. They are collected daily in the summer to be milked and then they can go back to enjoy the free life.
So we supply summer milk and this is not normal to all farmers in Norway. Many farmers stop in the summer so they can go on vacation or because of the rules that the cows has to go outside for at least so many days. Not every farmer in norway has the luxery that we have that the cows can on the mountain so close to our farm, they have to transport there animals and that makes it hard to have summer milk.Today we have 20 dairy cows.

We take great pride in our summer milk, which is rich in flavor and has a unique character. The diverse breeds and the mountain grazing contribute to the complexity of the milk, making it perfect for cheese production, yogurt, and of course, a cold glass of fresh milk on a warm summer day. Our summer milk is a true delight, and we feel fortunate to be able to share it with our community.
